Rachel Clair

Rachel Clair is an associate attorney at Markham Law Firm, where she has practiced since March 2026. She brings a background in courtroom advocacy, judicial service, and local roots to her family law practice.

Before joining Markham, Rachel served as an Assistant State’s Attorney in St. Mary’s County, Maryland, representing the State in criminal and serious traffic matters. She previously clerked for the Honorable Kathleen M. Dumais in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County from 2024 to 2025. During her clerkship, Judge Dumais served as Family Judge in Charge and sat on the juvenile rotation, giving Rachel valuable experience with family law trials, juvenile hearings, domestic violence matters, and Child in Need of Assistance (CINA) proceedings.

Rachel earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2024. While in law school, she served as vice president of the Family Law Association and as a student attorney in the Saul Ewing Civil Advocacy Clinic, where she represented indigent clients in landlord-tenant and employment disputes and assisted with expungement petitions.

She also completed internships with the Honorable Andrea M. Leahy on the Maryland Appellate Court (formerly Court of Special Appeals), the Honorable Rosalyn Tang on the Maryland Appellate Court (formerly Court of Special Appeals); and at a Montgomery County boutique family law firm.

Rachel graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 2021 with bachelor’s degrees in Multiplatform Journalism and Government & Politics. She is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia and is a member of the 2026–2027 Montgomery County Bar Association Leadership Academy. She is also an active member of the Maryland State Bar Association, Montgomery County Bar Association, Women’s Bar Association’s Montgomery County Chapter, and D.C. Bar.
